Breaking Up is Hard to Do… But Necessary 🍪

Breaking Up is Hard to Do… But Necessary 🍪

David Xamin

Well, friends, we didn’t think we’d have to write this post, but here we are. The U.S. has decided to throw some ridiculously un-Canadian (and even un-American) tariffs at Canada, and in response, we’re making some changes to our ingredient sourcing.

From this day forward, The Bearded Baker will no longer be using ingredients sourced from the U.S.

We’re choosing to support local, Canadian, or non-US suppliers instead. We may be a small business, and to be honest this change doesn't effect our ingredients that much, but it's a stand we feel we need to take to stand in solidarity with other Canadian businesses who will be drastically effected by this.

The Heartbreaker: Love You to Pieces 💔🍪

Here’s the bad news: Our beloved Love You to Pieces cookie, made with Reese’s Pieces, will be officially retired.

😭💔 Yes, we know. We’re sad, too. But those tiny peanut butter gems are made in the U.S., and since we’re no longer sourcing from across the border, we’re cutting them loose.

Look, it’s not us—it’s them.

And like any good breakup, we’re channeling our energy into celebrating the true Canadian cookies we already have!

Our Cookies That Scream "Oh Canada!" 🍁

We may be saying goodbye to Love You to Pieces, but let’s be honest—our cookies have always had a very Canadian influence to them.

  • Talk Smartie to Me 🍫✨ – Made with real Cadbury Smarties (not those sad, chalky U.S. ones). They don't even have these in the US...pfft.
  • Tragically Dipped 🍁 – Made with real Canadian maple syrup—because if you’re going to name a cookie after a legendary Canadian band, it better be drenched in pure, golden maple goodness.
  • Be Still My Butter Tart 🥧 – A love letter to Canada’s favorite dessert, this beauty comes with a butter tart glaze that makes it the perfect hybrid of a cookie and a national treasure.
  • The Butter Tart Beast - filled with our very own butter tart filling... grab a double-double, and a serviette while you sit down on your chesterfield to enjoy this one even more.

So, while Love You to Pieces sails off into the trade war sunset, we’re standing strong with cookies that are as Canadian as saying sorry when someone bumps into you.

Supporting Canadian Suppliers, One Cookie at a Time

This isn’t just about one cookie. It’s about ensuring that small businesses like ours support fellow Canadian businesses.

✅ No more unnecessary tariffs.
✅ No more supply chain headaches.
✅ And definitely more love to local and Canadian businesses in our cookies.

So, let’s take a moment to say farewell to Love You to Pieces—then raise a Tragically Dipped cookie in celebration of keeping it 100% Canadian.
